This part of the 6th arrondissement of Paris follows Rue de Rennes, which links the Saint-Germain crossroads to Gare Montparnasse. At the corner of Rue Blaise-Desgoffe, the Félix Potin building, built in 1904-1906 by architect Paul Auscher for the food-retail chain of the same name, combines cut stone and reinforced concrete, then unprecedented for this type of building, beneath an Art Nouveau turret. Further south, the Notre-Dame-des-Champs church, a Neo-Romanesque building erected from 1867 to 1876 by architect Léon Ginain with a metal structure fabricated in the Eiffel workshops, stands beside Boulevard du Montparnasse. The vista along Rue de Rennes offers a clear view of the Tour Montparnasse, completed in 1973, the tallest skyscraper within the city limits of the capital.
