The Domaine de Grosbois, in Boissy-Saint-Léger (Val-de-Marne), roughly fifteen kilometres from the Vincennes racecourse, is home to the world's foremost training centre for harness-racing trotters. Established in 1962 by the Société d'Encouragement à l'Elevage du Cheval Français on the 412 hectares of a former hunting estate, it can house up to 1,500 horses and around a hundred trainers. The site has four training tracks, a covered riding arena, a veterinary clinic, and 40 kilometres of bridle paths, 23 of them through woodland. The seventeenth-century château overlooking the estate, listed as a historic monument, once belonged to the Princes of Wagram and has housed Europe's largest museum devoted to trotting-race history since 2010.
