Description:
Baalbek, Lebanon. Archaeological site of the ancient city. Temple of Jupiter. With the exception of the great temple at Tarsus, the Temple of Jupiter at Baalbek is the largest in the Roman world. It was built over an area of 4,224 square metres. All that remains are six columns with a diameter of two and a half metres at the base and a height of twenty-two metres. Here are the steps leading up to the temple.
