Ad Deir (the monastery) is one of the most famous buildings of the ancient city of Petra. It's one of the biggest monuments, the facade is forty five meters large and forty two meters high.
Probably linked to the funerary cult of Nabatean king Obodas I who ruled from 96 BCE to 85 BCE. Obodas was deified after his death.
Khazneh (al-Firaun) - treasure of the Pharao - is one of the best known buildings of Petra. Carved in the Sandstone it is forty meters high and twenty eight meters large, it's architecture is of hellenistic influence
