Description:
Damnoen Saduak, Thailand. The Damnoen Saduak floating market is located about a hundred kilometers southwest of Bangkok, the capital of Thailand. Considered one of the most important floating markets by many tourist guides, this market has become a major tourist attraction - domestic and international. To the point where tourism has surely become the main activity of this market. The Damnoen Saduak Canal was built between 1866 and 1868 by order of King Rama IV. It is thirty-two kilometers long. The aim was to connect the Tha Chin and Mae Klong rivers. A large floating market emerged, the Lad Plee Market, which was active until 1967 when the network of land routes replaced water transportation. The Lad Plee Floating Market has been transformed into a tourist attraction aimed at foreign tourists.
