Baalbek, Lebanon. Archaeological site of the ancient city. The Temple of Bacchus is one of the best preserved temples in the Roman world. Although smaller than the Temple of Jupiter Heliopolitanus, the Temple of Bacchus is nevertheless one of the largest Roman temples, with a surface area of almost 2,500 square metres. The temple's columns are 22 metres high. Here, the entrance to the temple with the 'fallen keystone' hanging from it and two fragments of fallen columns.
